When to visit?
Montenegro is ideally visited between May and October. July and August are the hottest months and very popular on the Adriatic coast. For a quieter visit, prefer spring (May-June) or early autumn (September-October), ideal periods for enjoying mountain hikes and swimming in peace.
Entry formalities
European nationals can enter Montenegro with a simple ID card or valid passport for a stay of up to 90 days. Non-EU travelers must check visa requirements with the relevant embassy before departure.
Health and safety
No specific vaccine is required to visit Montenegro, but it is recommended to be up to date with standard vaccinations (DTP). Tap water is generally drinkable, but as a precaution, prefer bottled water. Medical care is available in large cities, and travel health insurance is recommended.
